MAC MOR RESTRUCTURES PRODUCTION
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Toronto—September 23, 2008—Today Mac Mor of Canada Limited announced changes to its production to increase its competitiveness in the North American marketplace.
Some manufacturing will be discontinued at its company-owned factory in Toronto and will be replaced by imports from existing strategic suppliers offshore. As a result of this re-structuring, Mac Mor has given notice to many of its production workers in the Toronto manufacturing facility.
"We regret the loss of some of our skilled employees, however we will continue to deliver products to our customers' satisfaction as we have done for over 50 years," says Harry Glicksman.
Mac Mor has operated a factory in Toronto since the 1950's but has been importing an ever increasing volume of its products for many years. In 2004, Mac Mor invested in the re-location and upgrading of its domestic production facility to both improve domestic production and increase the efficiency of its importing activities. After the restructuring, which is expected to be completed by November 2008, the factory in Toronto will remain open, but at a greatly reduced capacity.
Established in 1950, Mac Mor is a well-known manufacturer, importer and marketer of better men's rainwear, outerwear, jackets and leather. Their Mac Mor signature and Baroso premium brands can be found at better retailers across North America.
